Eastern Sigillata A

Pale orange fine-grained fabric; dark red-brick slip covering entire surface. Rounded sides; nearly horizontal wide rim with four grooves. Wide short foot, flat bottom. Pair of horizontal trapezoidal handles, flanked by volutes. Perimeter and handles decorated with round notches, forming grape bunches and rosettes. Embossed central medallion depicting Helios in a quadruple chariot, enclosed in triple grooved and notched border. Intact. Lime deposit, multiple root marks.

Cream fine-grained fabric; thick orange slip covering entire surface. Rounded sides; nearly horizontal wide rim with five grooves. Wide short foot, flat bottom. Perimeter decorated with round notches in low relief. Embossed central medallion depicting bearded syncretic deity holding a staff, flanked by cornucopia and ears of wheat (?), enclosed in double grooved border. Mended from several fragments.

Vertical wall with angular flange moulding and rounded rim with two inner grooves. Tall, wide pedestal foot. Stamped with two wide rouletted circles of fine linear notches and planta pedis in center of grooved inner circle. Mended from four fragments. Several chips on rim. Lime deposit, multiple root marks.

Short angular foot with flat resting surface. Floor is slightly convex. Rectangular stamp in three lines: ΚΑΓ/ΔΕΙ/ΝΟΥ. Graffito on underside: ΓΑ. Intact.
